Nutrional value
The main use of olive oil is, and has always been, as an essential ingredient in our diet, not least since it has been proved that it can have a positive effect on health. Cheese, meat and vegetables can be preserved in it. It can be poured uncooked over fish, vegetables, salads and pulses, can be used to make bread as well as its many facets within the preparation of cooked food. That’s probably why in Greece alone, 20Kg of olive oil is consumed per person per year.
It is believed that people with gall bladder problems, stomach ulcers, or constipation may benefit from drinking raw olive oil.
Those suffering with muscular pain, pain in joints and rheumatics may also benefit by using it as a massage oil.
A Simple Serving Suggestion
Cut a few slices from a French stick. Lightly toast. Drizzle with Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil and sprinkle with oregano.
So simple and so tasty!
